MELKSHAM, DEVELOP WINNING HABIT

After claiming a nail-biting 5-4 victory away at Bromham FC last Saturday, Melksham Town Development welcomed Frome Collegians Reserves Oakfield Stadium and once again Melksham were involved in a thriller that saw them come from 2-0 down to claim maximum points thanks to a 3-2 success

Frome Collegians who suffered a defeat a week ago led at the break courtesy of a 24th minute Ben Bullus effort. Things got better for the visitors after the break when Walt Schofield scored to put them 2-0 up on 52 minutes.

Having almost thrown away a 5-1 advantage last week, it was the turn of Melksham to turn the game on its head as Olly Clarke halved the deficit for the hosts when he scored in the 59th minute..

Sam Whitehead fashioned an equaliser on 75 minutes for Melksham before substitute Billy Hawkins completed the comeback when he fired home 5 minutes from time to make it 3-2 and secure Mike Coll’s side back-to-back wins for the first time since October 2020 when they competed as Melksham Town ‘A’.

Heytesbury & Codford FC 2 Warminster Town Reserves FC 4

WARMINSTER END CHAMPIONS 33 MATCH WINNING RUN

After winning their opening two matches of the season, Heytesbury & Codford FC faced a potential banana skin in the guise of a Warminster Town Reserves side who have recruited well in the close season and have a number of the Heytesbury & Codford team of last season in their ranks.  The hosts worst fears were confirmed as they suffered a first defeat of the season as the slumped to a 4-2 loss.

The hosts trailed 3-0 at the break to a Warminster side whose victory took them to the top of the table on goal difference.

Jake Owen put Warminster in front, Josh Drury doubled the advantage for the visitors and when a second from Owen gave them a 3-0 interval advantage it was as good as game over for the villagers.

Warminster moved further ahead in the second period thanks to a second of the afternoon from Josh Drury and although Heytesbury & Codford staged a mini revival they couldn’t complete what would have been a remarkable comeback.

Liam Gibbens got the home team back in the game before his second of the afternoon made things a little more interesting, however both goals were little more than consolations as Warminster held on for a comfortable victory.

Seend United FC 2 Bromham FC 1

SEEND BEAT BROMHAM TO CLAIM A NERVY WIN

Andy Dyer’s Seend United suffered what many people thought was a shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bradford Town Reserves last weekend, so the visit of Bromham FC to The Beeches, Shaw for what was expected to be another mouth- watering contest, especially after Bromham had just lost out Melksham Town Development last weekend in a 9-goal thriller.

Once again Bromham played their part in what was an entertaining contest but for a second week running Chandler Davision’s side came up just short as Seend battled to a 2-1 success with both goals coming in the first half.

Ryan Underwood opened the scoring for Seend and when Paul Gittins made it 2-0 Seend looked set for a comfortable win, however Bromham had other ideas and when Jack Angell halved the deficit before half time it was game on, however neither team could find the target again as Seend saw the game out in the second half to claim a hard fought for 2-1 triumph.
