DIVISION TWO ROUND UP – WEEK 2

Avon Valley FC 3 Freshford United Reserves FC 0

After missing out on their first ever Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, fixture last weekend due safety issues at the Bowerhill pitch, Avon Valley FC got their Division Two campaign underway when they hosted fellow new boys Freshford United Reserves FC

Wes Hardy’s side made up for lost time as a 3-0 victory saw them send the champagne corks popping, while Freshford were left pointless from their two opening matches.

Jake Quinn came off the bench to give Avon Valley the lead in the 43rd minute which was doubled before the break courtesy of Konrad Marowski who scored in the second minute of first half added on time. 

With 12 minutes remaining the hosts sealed their win, an Alex Lester own goal earning Avon Valley all 3 points.


Bishops Cannings Reserves FC 5 Pilot FC 2

Bishops Cannings broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, Lewis Hellman setting up Lewis Hancock for the opener.

Lewis Hawkins who started on the bench made it 2-0 on 34 minutes, Caleb Hollow providing the assist. Hollow went from provider to score just a few minutes later, James Franklin teeing Hollow up to make it 3-0 in the 37th minute.

Joshua Jacques pulled a goal back for Pilot on 44 minutes, however a minute Bishops Cannings reclaimed their 3 goal cushion, Leo Powell assisting Lewis Hawkins to score his second of the afternoon.

Pilot gave themselves a lifeline when Harry Fordred reduced the deficit in the 86th minute, but what was already an uphill task became an impossible one as Bishops Cannings wrapped up all 3 points with their fifth of the game on 90 minutes, Lewis Hawkins scoring from the penalty spot, for his third of the match to claim a deserved hat trick.


Durrington FC 5 Trowbridge Town Tigers FC 1

Durrington FC , who are many people’s favourites to win the Second division title followed up their 7-0 victory on the opening day with a 5-1 defeat at home to a Trowbridge Town Tigers FC who actually took the lead before suffering a second loss of the season.

Sam Parker-Gale saw his opener for Trowbridge Tigers cancelled out by Aiden Fitzgerald, and from there, further goals from Olly Mason and Tyler Pavey gave Durrington a 3-1 advantage at the break.

A second of the after for Olly Mason extended the Durrington lead to 4-1 before Lewis Stafford added a fifth to complete a 5-Star performance by the league’s newcomers.


South Newton & Barford Hornets FC 2 Staverton Rangers FC 5

Fresh from their opening day success against Freshford United Reserves, Staverton Rangers FC travelled to South Newton & Barford Hornets FC looking to stretch their unbeaten run to six matches.

After taking the lead the visitors overcame a scare when they fell 2-1 down, before turning things around to claim a 5-2 success.

An Owen Keel penalty got South Newton & Barford Hornets back on level terms after Jake Abbott had given Staverton the lead.

Jake Kavanagh scored from the penalty spot early in the second period to put the hosts into a lead, which woke Staverton from their half time slumber as Dave Jenkins restored parity for Keith Dyckes team who then moved into the ascendency and bagged 3 more unanswered goals.

Kieran Mills put them 3-2 ahead, Ash Hamdia made it 4-2 and Todd Davies wrapped things up with the visitors fifth of the afternoon.


Trowbridge Wanderers FC 3 Calne Athletic FC 1

Both Trowbridge Wanderers FC and Calne Eagles FC had winning starts to the season and it was the former who came out on top of their encounter at Lambrok Road with a 3-1 win to make it two out of two for Jake Little’s newcomers.

Ewan McConnachie restored parity for Calne Eagles after Luke Ransome had given Wanderers the lead.

After what was a cagey first half, Wanderers got their noses in front thanks to a well taken finish from Jakub Koman and they made certain of back-to-back victories when Ashton Buckland fired home their third of the afternoon.
