Calne Athletic FC 11 Bishops Cannings Reserves FC 1

Bishops Cannings Reserves were the visitors to Beversbrook for this Division 2 clash against one of the early front runners Calne Athletic and the home side ran riot to post an 11-1 victory, their biggest victory of the season to date.

It took just four minutes for the divisions’ top goal scorer, Ewan McConnachie to break the deadlock and this was followed by Archie Green opening his Calne Athletic account just over ten minutes later.

When McConnachie added his second and Athletic’s third with 24 minutes on the clock, it seemed that the writing was on the wall for a long afternoon for Phil Hendy’s side.

However, it was Bishops Cannings who scored the next goal via substitute Lewis Hiscock, taking advantage of Calne Athletic briefly switching off and reducing the deficit.

That however, was about as good as it got for Phil Hendy’s team as this only seemed to open the floodgates further, Oli Andresen getting in on the action and McConnachie completing his hat-trick before the interval for a 5-1 halftime scoreline.

The second half did not give the Bishops Canning defence any respite, Green scoring two quickfire goals to take a share of the match ball and Dan Croft made it 8-1 before the hour mark.

The goals were coming thick & fast for Athletic and McConnachie scored his fourth of the afternoon to ensure he took the lions share of the match ball from his strike partner.

The goal that brought up double figures was arguably the goal of the game, Connor Mizen as he cut in from the left-hand side curled a beauty into the top corner and this was followed up by an equally good goal as Tyler Smith powered home the eleventh and final goal of the day as Calne Athletic ran riot to keep pace at the top of Division 2.

Staverton Rangers FC 0 Bromham FC 4

Bromham FC’s short trip to Bowerhill, Melksham where they met Staverton Rangers reaped dividends, a 4-0 victory has set them up nicely for what will be a tougher challenge and a must win match against Calne Athletic next weekend.

Tyler Beattie opened the scoring in the 11th minute and midway through the half Archie Harris made it 2-0.

Tyler Beattie scored his second of the afternoon and Bromham’s third in the 51st minute and it was left to Tobei Beattie to fire home number 5 minutes from time.

Lewis Harford got the Tigers roaring with an early goal before two Callum McNamee’s goals gave them a 3-0 interval lead.

Luke Ransome pulled a goal back for Trowbridge Wanderers, but it proved to be a lone consolation as both Joel Grandos-Reeves and Dan Tugwell came off the bench to score a goal apiece on their debut’s to seal a fine win for Tim Brown’s side who will have bragging rights until the sides meet again.
