Staverton Rangers FC 1 Hilperton Greyhound FC 4
HALL HAS A BALL FOR GREYHOUND
With Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, Second Division, leaders Freshford United losing their match to a frozen pitch and with second placed The Stiffs missing out on a game, Hilperton Greyhound took full advantage and a 4-1 victory over Staverton Rangers saw them move into second place.
With their own pitch at Bowerhill unavailable, Keith Dyckes, Staverton side should be thanked for switching the match to Hilperton rather than calling it off until another day.
Matty Hall gave Greyhound the lead from a Cori Brewer assist, but a Josh Sheppard goal put the hosts on the back foot as it gave Staverton a deserved life line .
Staverton were unable to build on Sheppard’s goal as once Greyhound regained the lead after the break courtesy of a Josh Propert goal from an assist from substitute Luke Reed they started to gain the upper hand.
A second goal of the afternoon from player of the match, Matty Hall from a Gavin Francis assist made it 3-1 before Cori Brewer claimed his second assist as he set up Francis to score Greyhound’s fourth of the game.
Bishops Cannings Reserves FC 1 Holt FC 3
MATT SHOWS NO GOODWILL TO CANNINGS
Holt moved into the top half of the table thanks to their 3-1 triumph away at Bishops Cannings Reserves FC.
Holt led 2-0 at the break thanks to a 24th minute effort from Matt Goodwill and a Max Griffith goal which doubled the lead on 28 minutes.
Ethan Howard halved the deficit for Cannings in the 53rd minute, only for Holt to restore their 2 goal cushion via a second of the contest from Matt Goodwill on 57 minutes, which in the end was enough to earn Nigel Tripp’s side their sixth win of the season.
Trowbridge Town Tigers FC 4 Dilton Marsh Wanderers FC 2
TIGERS REPEL DILTON FIGHT BACK
Despite a spirited second half showing from Dilton Marsh Wanderers it wasn’t enough to save the villagers from suffering a 4-2 defeat away at a Trowbridge Town Tigers league match since the end of October when they suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Hilperton Greyhound.
On what was a day of first for the Tigers, a first goal for the club from Corin Day put the hosts 1-0 up. A goal on his debut for Adam Mitchell gave Tim Brown’s side a 2-0 interval lead.
Dan Bodman added a third for Trowbridge Tigers before Dilton Marsh launched a fightback as goals for Dale Rowland and Henry Carter reduced the arrears to the odd goal.
Although the visitors pushed hard looking for an equaliser but couldn’t land one, and thanks to a first goal for Lewis Harford the Tigers were able to wrap up their 4-2 victory.
